Allie Aller

Allie Aller’s quiltmaking career has had two distinct chapters: the first as a “sane” quilter making bed quilts, landscapes, broderie perse quilts, as well as stained glass quilts. Then crazy quilting took over her life and she spent fifteen glorious years working in that genre. Incorporating fancy fabrics, hand and machine embroidery, and all sorts of embellishment took Allie on an incredibly rich journey.

Now she is in a new era, one where she seeks to combine both those approaches in quilting – embellished and traditional – in her work. And that is where her Handi Quilter machine has proved so important. The HQ Sweet Sixteen® enables Allie to explore the role of free-motion quilting with embroidery and bead work, and to learn to incorporate the richness of quilting to her already three-dimensional surface.

Allie majored in Design at Cornell University, and has since been accepted in many national shows. She has also ribboned in a few. She writes for magazines, has taught a Craftsy class, and has two books published with C & T Publishing. A third book is in the works and will be out in February 2017. It’s clear that Allie is passionate about quilting.
