Amy Van Gurp has a special love for textiles. A quilter for more than 15 years, she is primarily self-taught under the watchful eye of an experienced quilter aunt.
Amy’s husband encouraged her to further her love of quilting by purchasing an HQ Fusion® longarm quilting machine with Pro-Stitcher® for computerized quilting. Longarm quilting came naturally to Amy, especially using Pro-Stitcher along with Art and Stitch digitizing software. She often creates her own designs to add a personal touch to her quilts. Amy now works on an HQ Infinity® with Pro-Stitcher®, and has added an HQ Sweet Sixteen® to her studio.
Proficient in teaching all levels of quilting, Amy looks forward to meeting quilters everywhere and sharing her love of quilting, whether working with Pro-Stitcher or exploring difficult techniques in a classroom setting. She instructs in her studio, on line and at HQ retailer locations to both new and long-time quilters. She particularly loves to show quilters how their choices of threads, patterns and batting affect the final quilt.
Amy’s quilts have been featured in McCall’s Quilting and have won awards at various quilt shows in her native Canada, where she resides with her husband and three children on a lovely farm on Prince Edward Island.
